{ early bird catches what worm? }
-ExcellentI still don't get it. It's always been this way, but I don't get it.
We don't open the doors to the library until 9:00. None of the branches do. That has always been our normal opening time.
So why, when I get here at 8:15, is there a group of people already waiting outside the library doors? They are here every day. They know what time we open.
Why are they willing to wait 45 minutes (actually longer, who knows how long they were out there before I got here?) in the cold and the rain just so they are sure of being first on the computers?
And why do they think that pulling and shaking the doors, after they see me lock them behind me, will gain them entry any faster? We still don't open until 9....

{ Excuse me library lady }
-ExcellentOne of the computer patrons starts waving her arms and yelling "excuse me library lady!"
"yes?"
"Can you close the blinds? I can't see."
"The blinds are closed. See? I can't close them any further."
"But the light is tearing my eyes up."
"I'm sorry. But the blinds are closed."
See. The problem is that when the mini-blinds that are covering the windows are closed, a little light still leaks in through the slats. It isn't glaring. It isn't even enough to see by if we turn out the lights.
If you have so damaged your eyes from staring at your MySpace on the computer screen for hours on end that the light glow from the WINDOW is too much for your Innanet-Vampire eyes, might I suggest that you take a fucking break? Go get a coffee? Leave the library for a few hours?
