{ We all start somewhere }
Smartass-MySpace, Blogs, Video Games, Wikis. Yes, technology that is the dividing factor between old guard libraries and librarians and the new evolving face of the library world. Just this past tuesday I was in a meeting with all of the library employees in our system whose jobs are described with technology-emphasis. At this meeting the biggest discussion point that nearly every one got behind was MySpace, and reasons why it should be... BLOCKED??
This is a crowd of people who are supposed to be understanding of technology, and adept in dealing with the public, yet the concensus was that teens who use MySpace are "disruptive". I put "disruptive" in quotes because the way that people explain the "disruptions" varries, GREATLY. I'd just like to shout out to anyone who might agree with this
THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SPECIFIC PATRON(S), NOT THE AGE, NOT THE TECHNOLOGY!Thank you. I feel like I'm having a gun control debate "Guns don't kill people. People kill people." heh.
